These workshops are open to all WashU affiliates and are held in the fall and spring semesters. See upcoming DataLab Workshops Data Savvy Courses Data Savvy is a set of self-paced courses delivered through Canvas. It is meant to complement semester-length courses taught at Washington University in St. Louis. These courses do not replace full-term courses offered by Washington University schools and departments. Data Savvy Courses are actively seeking feedback at this stage; please share comments through the Data Savvy Courses Feedback Form. Students may self-register based on an instructor’s recommendation or on their own initiative and receive a portable micro-credential that they can add to their resume. The following courses are available: Data Literacy, Management & Sharing | Helps researchers become more effective in finding, evaluating, using, and managing data and introduces ethical considerations around sharing and publishing data. Working with Data | Takes researchers through the fundamentals of working with data, both quantitative and qualitative. It is designed to help students feel more confident around the topics of building, using, analyzing, and communicating with data. 2D and 3D Visualization | Introduces the fundamentals of data visualization in both 2D and 3D formats. It reviews the properties of effective and common data visualization types and provides resources for creating visualizations and guidance on designing and evaluating data visualizations. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) | Walks students through geospatial concepts, data, resources, and tools at a high level. These courses take a holistic approach to introducing key concepts of data literacy, data management, and data wrangling. If you do not have access to Canvas, please call WashU IT Support at (314) 933-3333 to request access.
